jennica.and.brian: Summer with Owen. 13 and 14 months

Oops I forgot a few monthly post, and now Owen is almost 15 months! We have just been having too much fun. So here is the longest post of your whole life.

Summer is seriously the best and I never want it to end. We have had like a million people stay at our house and have been non-stop busy and having fun. Owen has grown and changed so much this summer. He is an expert walker, and getting so tall!

I planned to nurse Owen for a year, but didn't care to go cold turkey. Let me tell you, a full bosom is very uncomfortable and I wasn't in any hurry. Especially because the minute I cut out some nursing sessions, or course Owen started loving nursing. He learned to sign milk in baby sign language and he started asking for milk all day long. When I wouldn't give it to him he started pulling on my shirt and looking into my soul while he asked for milk. I tell you that makes it much harder to stop nursing. He also took like a month to figure out sippy cups. But now we have made the transition he is a pro and I'm ok with being done nursing. I definitely wouldn''t say like thank goodness its over, because I do miss the closeness and being able to calm him or put him back to sleep. Nursing is pretty special and I'm excited to do it again with another baby. :) It was time to be done, but my pediatrician told me he wanted to me to nurse at least one of my babies until they were 2 because it significantly (he gave me a crazy statistic, but I can't remember) the risk of breast cancer. So it's definitely something to think about and I'm definitely not going to judge any other mom when they are nursing their older babies!

Owen took his first steps around 11 months, but other than 6-8 steps at a time, he still preferred crawling for his mode of transportation. About a week after his first birthday he started trying to walk more and more and everytime he would fall he would crawl to the nearest furniture piece to help himself up. This was a scary time for a first time mom. So many falls, but so soon he was a pro! And now I love that he can walk. Although I feel like walking ended his baby-hood, he was just such a heavy baby, so now that I can set him down and give my arms a break is a treat! Plus i swear his personality like tripled since he started walking.

^^ Our friends Aubrey and Phil and their kids Teddy and Penny came to stay with us! Owen and Penny are about 2 weeks apart and they were so cute together! It is so fun to have friends come visit!

We went and visited Brian at his fire station in North Fork when my mom was here. It was so fun to see where we worked and ride in the fire truck. Owen loved it! We are sure proud of our dad.

^^ Owens first official swimming trip with mom and dad. This was the only time Owen has ever really liked swimming. We are working on him though.

This month Owen :

Owen has 9 teeth

loves to close doors

loves wheels and cars

still poops like 6 times a day

loves to push EVERYTHING

loves to be chased and thinks everything is a game

loves the gazoon cartoons

doesn't want to sit in grocery cart anymore, just push it

says hi to everyone.

doesn't like wet floors or wet feet. he panicks and needs me to pick him up

is pretty clingy and mostly just prefers my company.

can say a monkey noise, snake noise, elephant noise, fish noise, sheep noise,

can sign milk, all done, and please

says hi, ball, balloon, car, nana (banana), dada, mama, bubbles,

has been on 11 flights (and mostly always good)

will walk backward on command when we say "beep. beep. beep"

^^ We took a last minute weekend trip to Danville and it was soooo needed and so fun! We got to fly there and Owen was a champ! // Denise's grand-daughter Kate was so cute and sooo good with Owen. It was so fun to hang out with more cousins.

^^ Owen got to finally meet Collette who is sooo adorable and just a few months younger than Owen.

^^ We got to go out for Chinese food with our Danville friends and it was a little bit of chaos with 5 babies, but definitely a good time.

^^ Hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa VB was so fun. Owen was definitely spoiled! And so were Brian and I!

^^ We tried to go to Muir woods, but it was too crazy busy, so off to the beach instead!

^^ Matchy Matchy // Our flight was delayed and Owen got woken up from his nap on our trip home, but Owen fell asleep in my arms! It was nice to hold him again, but holy he is heavy. My arms ached all day.

^^ Owen's auntie Janeen and Sheriann bought him his most favorite red wagon ever. He mostly loves to just push it everywhere unless we pull him fast.

We were lucky to have Aunt Courtney stay with us a lot this summer. It was so nice to have someone to hang out with everyday and do errands with and have so much help with Owen! Seriously come back Courtney! I swear marriage needs to have one person to make money and two people for the kids :)

^^ At the parade we got a ton of free 7 peaks passes so after Brian finished work we got to go with Courtney and Christopher and their friends Kelsey, David, and Jay. We even took turns with the babies and got to ride some water slides! Woooo! // baby ipad time

^^ courtney, owen and I went swimming with courtney and brians aunt leslie one day. that pool was probably 90 degrees and owen still didn't like it!

^^On August 1st all of the VBs were in town to go through the temple with Tiffany for her first time! Sam couldn't make it because Baby Jack is only 8 weeks old, but we all got together the next day for his blessing. It was a really nice weekend. I really lucked out in the in-laws department!
