HALF a year old!

Well, this month went by slower then the others. Life seems to finally be settling into a real routine.  Owen sleeps 1.5 hr in the morning, 1.5 hours in the early afternoon, and usually a quick 30 min nap to help him make it to his bedtime.  Oh my gosh this schedule is a dream!  I'm still shocked at how big Owen is getting and all the new things he is learning, but I think since I'm finally getting full nights sleeps in my own bed, I feel sane and time is now going.. well normally! Hurray!

I LOVE my baby. Ok, I say that every month. But I loved him before and he was super difficult and cried a lot. Now he is so easy and the best baby in the world, and I love him so much my heart feels like it is going to explode every time I see him and those chubby hands pinch my face. Ah. True love. I feel like I'll never love another baby as much as I love him, but at the same time I want like 100 more kids so there is always a baby in the house and I can always be this happy! Sleep really is good for a person.

 This month Owen:

-likes to pinch my neck. he plays with the skin while I carry him around. It's cute, but kinda painful.
-learned how to roll from back to belly. loves to roll, but can't roll back so he gets stuck and cries
-now officially sleeps on his belly.
-pants like a dog when he wants something
-loves loves loves water bottles.
-loves iphones and computers more than water bottles. taking pictures and videos has become very difficult.
-still loves to jump his little heart out.
-his 6 month stats are weighs 19.38 lbs (80%) length 26.5 inches (52%)
-doesn't like to be left alone in the room.
-loves peek a boo
-loves to splash in the bath
-hates to get dressed
-hates shopping at the mall

Ok, now for a month of pictures of my baby!

Everett was a good sport and let baby Owen sit on his lap. hahahahaha. I think they only have a pound or two difference between them. Inverted knuckles anyone?

Owen is a little (a lot) heavy, but I still put him in my wrap sometimes to go get the mail.

Smiling sitting baby. By the way, bibs are ugly, but Owen spits/throws up like 10x a day still, and I finally got tired of changing his outfits.

I love to dress Owen as Canadian as possible since he is currently living in the U.S. of A.

I could look into this baby's eyes all day. Oh and he might need some more pjs...he is bustin' out!

A baby in a laundry basket is the the way to my heart.

Never enough naked baby pictures.

Polar bear Owen.

Church going owen!

Cutting babies finger nails is a big job that no one ever warned me about. I forgot for just a few days, and wa-la, he maimed that beautiful face of his.

Owen playing with his favorite toy.. if only the whole water bottle would fit in his month. Oh and this is the only occasion that he has ever wore shoes. haha.

So sleep training. Oh my gosh. I think we are one of those miracle stories that should be in a sleep training book. This month was even better than last month. Now Owen goes to bed around 7 and sleeps into 8 and sometimes 9! He went the entire night without eating one time, but usually wakes up around 4 for one quick feeding. And as for nap training, my pediatrician said to nap train just leave the baby in the crib for how long you want the nap to be. I wasn't perfect with this, but after 2 weeks ish the naps slowly went from 30 minutes, to 45, to 1.5 hours! It is a miracle! I love nap time. And it only takes me like 5 minutes to put him down and he rarely cries these day. I have a clean house and I'm on season 4 of gilmore girls, so I really can't complain!

The thing about sleep training that I feel like you have to just realize though, is you kind of always are sleep training. Something random happens every once in awhile, like traveling or sick, or just hungrier than normal and you have to let them cry it out. But it doesn't happen that often and the crying is usually so short. So I'm ok with it now.  He is so much happier and I really believe that's also why he is napping better. The whole sleep begets sleep thing. I can't believe I was even surviving before this. I feel like I have recently come back to the world! Hello! I'll never go back!

6 month babies are FUN! He grabs absolutely everything, and everything goes in his mouth. And we started solids. I actually wasn't too excited to start solids. Breast feeding is finally so easy,  so so so convenient, pretty much mess free, free, and really no work. And no his diapers REALLY smell.

I thought he would be such a good eater because he loved gripe water, tylenol, and his minty acid reflux medicine, but he is taking a bit to get used to the whole idea of solids.

So far we tried white sweet potatoes (nope), yams (nope), bananas, (yes!) apples, (yes for a huge apple to suck on, no for the apple sauce), and baby oatmeal (yes). so maybe he will be just like his dad and like carbs but not really fruit or veggies..

Brian informs me that he likes chips ahoy, whipped cream, and gummy bears. (i think he is mostly kidding?!)

Brian had to work on Thanksgiving :( but luckily he was home by noon so he and Owen still got to get some quality Macy's day parade watching in.

Oh and omg. On thankgiving, I noticed Owen had hair! It's dark and fuzzy and still barely there, but it's coming in fast!

Owen's Christmas shirt didn't come in time for our Christmas cards, so we did our own photo shoot in our backyard. I obviously couldn't pick just one.
