HALF a year old!

Well, this month went by slower then the others. Life seems to finally be settling into a real routine.  Owen sleeps 1.5 hr in the morning, 1.5 hours in the early afternoon, and usually a quick 30 min nap to help him make it to his bedtime.  Oh my gosh this schedule is a dream!  I'm still shocked at how big Owen is getting and all the new things he is learning, but I think since I'm finally getting full nights sleeps in my own bed, I feel sane and time is now going.. well normally! Hurray!

I LOVE my baby. Ok, I say that every month. But I loved him before and he was super difficult and cried a lot. Now he is so easy and the best baby in the world, and I love him so much my heart feels like it is going to explode every time I see him and those chubby hands pinch my face. Ah. True love. I feel like I'll never love another baby as much as I love him, but at the same time I want like 100 more kids so there is always a baby in the house and I can always be this happy! Sleep really is good for a person.

 This month Owen:

-likes to pinch my neck. he plays with the skin while I carry him around. It's cute, but kinda painful.
-learned how to roll from back to belly. loves to roll, but can't roll back so he gets stuck and cries
-now officially sleeps on his belly.
-pants like a dog when he wants something
-loves loves loves water bottles.
-loves iphones and computers more than water bottles. taking pictures and videos has become very difficult.
-still loves to jump his little heart out.
-his 6 month stats are weighs 19.38 lbs (80%) length 26.5 inches (52%)
-doesn't like to be left alone in the room.
-loves peek a boo
-loves to splash in the bath
-hates to get dressed
-hates shopping at the mall

Ok, now for a month of pictures of my baby!

Everett was a good sport and let baby Owen sit on his lap. hahahahaha. I think they only have a pound or two difference between them. Inverted knuckles anyone?

Owen is a little (a lot) heavy, but I still put him in my wrap sometimes to go get the mail.

Smiling sitting baby. By the way, bibs are ugly, but Owen spits/throws up like 10x a day still, and I finally got tired of changing his outfits.

I love to dress Owen as Canadian as possible since he is currently living in the U.S. of A.

I could look into this baby's eyes all day. Oh and he might need some more pjs...he is bustin' out!

A baby in a laundry basket is the the way to my heart.

Never enough naked baby pictures.

Polar bear Owen.

Church going owen!

Cutting babies finger nails is a big job that no one ever warned me about. I forgot for just a few days, and wa-la, he maimed that beautiful face of his.

Owen playing with his favorite toy.. if only the whole water bottle would fit in his month. Oh and this is the only occasion that he has ever wore shoes. haha.

So sleep training. Oh my gosh. I think we are one of those miracle stories that should be in a sleep training book. This month was even better than last month. Now Owen goes to bed around 7 and sleeps into 8 and sometimes 9! He went the entire night without eating one time, but usually wakes up around 4 for one quick feeding. And as for nap training, my pediatrician said to nap train just leave the baby in the crib for how long you want the nap to be. I wasn't perfect with this, but after 2 weeks ish the naps slowly went from 30 minutes, to 45, to 1.5 hours! It is a miracle! I love nap time. And it only takes me like 5 minutes to put him down and he rarely cries these day. I have a clean house and I'm on season 4 of gilmore girls, so I really can't complain!

The thing about sleep training that I feel like you have to just realize though, is you kind of always are sleep training. Something random happens every once in awhile, like traveling or sick, or just hungrier than normal and you have to let them cry it out. But it doesn't happen that often and the crying is usually so short. So I'm ok with it now.  He is so much happier and I really believe that's also why he is napping better. The whole sleep begets sleep thing. I can't believe I was even surviving before this. I feel like I have recently come back to the world! Hello! I'll never go back!

6 month babies are FUN! He grabs absolutely everything, and everything goes in his mouth. And we started solids. I actually wasn't too excited to start solids. Breast feeding is finally so easy,  so so so convenient, pretty much mess free, free, and really no work. And no his diapers REALLY smell.

I thought he would be such a good eater because he loved gripe water, tylenol, and his minty acid reflux medicine, but he is taking a bit to get used to the whole idea of solids.

So far we tried white sweet potatoes (nope), yams (nope), bananas, (yes!) apples, (yes for a huge apple to suck on, no for the apple sauce), and baby oatmeal (yes). so maybe he will be just like his dad and like carbs but not really fruit or veggies..

Brian informs me that he likes chips ahoy, whipped cream, and gummy bears. (i think he is mostly kidding?!)

Brian had to work on Thanksgiving :( but luckily he was home by noon so he and Owen still got to get some quality Macy's day parade watching in.

Oh and omg. On thankgiving, I noticed Owen had hair! It's dark and fuzzy and still barely there, but it's coming in fast!

Owen's Christmas shirt didn't come in time for our Christmas cards, so we did our own photo shoot in our backyard. I obviously couldn't pick just one.

5 months

Hello I have a 5 month old! I love this baby and I love his personality and I love him getting bigger!

This month Owen:
-weighs 19 pounds
-rolled over from belly to back 3x then stopped and hasn't tried it again.
-started sitting up for a little bit by himself
-likes to be hung upside down
-became worst sleeper in the world waking up under every 2 hours all night long
-still naps only 30 minutes
-started sleep training and became an amazing sleeper!
-likes when we make funny faces and fools of ourselves
-likes to pull his soother out of his mouth
-tries to lunge out of our arms
-stopped being swaddled because it was pointless and he could get out of even a double swaddle
-thinks we are hilarious :)

We didn't get a chance to go to Canada this summer with Owen and his non-stop crying so we decided to go for Thanksgiving (Canadian Thanksgiving that is). We did the first half after Brian finished work at 8pm, which was the best idea ever because he mostly just slept. The next morning was not so easy.. yikes, this baby doesn't like his car seat anymore.

Grandma and Grandpa Dittmann got Owen his favorite toy so far.... the Jolly Jumper! Boy does this boy like to jump. The first few minutes he didn't quite get it, but it no time he was jumping his little heart out. It was so weird to see him independent and upright by himself. He is just growing up so fast!

I really wanted to get some pictures of Owen in my favorite place in the world Waterton, but it was pretty rainy and cold so we only got quick pic in front of the falls. **it's hard to see, but Owen and I are wearing matching Roots sweaters :)

Auntie Janeen and Owen baby. She loves him so much an I love that she loves him so much! Seriously aunts and uncles are the best.  They love him and clothe him and he is just one lucky loved baby.

Hi I'm Owen!

While in Canada we got to hang out with Chanel and Sienna a lot. Owen even got to try out Sienna's bumbo. I think I should have got him one of these. There is just so much baby gear out there, can't get everything!

Sienna is 6 months here and Owen is 4 months.. he is a big boy, and she is a little girl!

Owen went and visited his twin Grandpa Ron in his classroom. We forgot to get a picture and Grandma Leslie's school.

It was so good to be home. Owen was so loved and spoiled by his grandparents and aunts and uncles. Plus, he needed to visit his homeland. OH CANADA! It was such a nice trip. Owen and I flew home together and I was so nervous to do it alone, but he was amazing! Planes are seriously like the best white noise machines ever or something.. he went to sleep sitting up in my lap. WHA?!

Owen being a drama queen. He sure loves attention.

For my birthday, Brian had to work, so the night before we celebrated together and I got steak at cheesecake factory.. holy cow I had been craving that. mmmmm. And then on my actual bday these cute besties of mine (+everett and owen) took me to Pizzeria Limone. YUM! Hallelujah to another GNO!

Grandpa and Grandma VB sent the cutest Halloween package for Owen. He is showing off his sitting skills and his Batty about Mommy socks and onesie.

The two most handsome boys in the entire world.. I'm sure of it!

My little bear at Witches Night Out at Gardner Village. He is seriously becoming the best little baby!

Owen showing off his perfected Jolly Jumper skills.

I bundled Owen up and took him for a walk and he went right to sleep. I really need to go on walks before winter is here for good!

This is just probably the best picture ever...!

Owenbear!

5 months is so much fun! Even though sleep training was so so so hard,  and he still cries sometimes, I now have a baby that mostly takes like 5 min to fall asleep around 7:30pm, then sleeps until 3am for a feed. and then sleeps until 7:30am. Hope that is here to stay! Here is to a happier mama and a happier baby!  Next.. how the heck do you nap train?

Owen 4 months: Oct. 7, 2014

This has been such a fun month! Right after my last post... Owen laughed for his first time! It was so unexpected and fake sounding! I couldn't even believe. I just fall more in love with this little guy every day.

Owen is only napping 30 minutes on the dot by himself these days. I love love those 30 minutes, and I don't really mind the hour that I hold him for the rest of his nap, but I'm feeling ready to possibly try sleep training. The problem with the internet is everytime I consult it I get ONE MILLION different opinions! Babies with colic, shouldn't be sleep trained, don't let babies cry it out, wait until 6 months to try sleep training, never sleep train babies feel abandoned, sleep train from week 1. phew. It's exhausting. I just need to find out what is right for Owen and I and go with it! And I need some more sleep I think!

Here we are watching the Apple keynote.

Sometimes a thumb sucker, but mostly just a hand sucker.

Owen month 4

-weighs 17 pounds 11oz
- now goes 4 hours between feedings (so nice!)
-no longer likes the car, or his car seat and mostly cries the whole time
-can laugh! it just takes a little work to get him going
-likes me to hold him up and do SUPER BABY!
-really found his voice and is super talkative
-loves to look at the fireplace
-figured out tummy time and can really lift his head!
-pooping less. like once a day, which is great!
-is sooooooo drooly.. like soaking all of his shirts.
-loves to be outside.
-brings everything he can to his mouth
-can kinda grab toys

So strong! He finally figured out tummy time and his neck got a little stronger so he usually likes to be on his stomach for awhile. Then gets annoyed and wants to be picked up.

Mirror selfies with mom.

He still has sad days. But, way way less! He met with a new pediatrician in Salt Lake though and he switched up his meds, started him on probiotics, and he felt much better again! I also went off dairy (worst thing ever... I love cheese!)   I think the colic phase is coming to an end!

Owen and his new BFF Everett! How tender are they together?

Brittney was in town and we had a GNO for lunch + Britton. Britton is seriously a baby whisperer! Owen loves him, especially when they match.

We have been spending lots of afternoons out on our little patch of grass in front of our house. Owen seems to really like being outside. He just sits there calm watching the sky and leaves rustle. He is just my BFF!

Walking practice with Dad. Brian is dedicated to have the worlds youngest walking babe, but Owen is not the best at cooperating.

This was after a nasty blow out.. right in his car seat. If you peaked under the right leg, you would not like what you found.  Yes the bits of yellow in his onesie are also poop. His face says it all...

Owen was SO good at the bottle the first time we tried at like 3 weeks. We gave him a few than got busy, moving and such and didn't for like 2 months. Then when we tried again.. it was a disaster! But slowly he is taking like maybe 1-2 oz every once in awhile. I'm determined though because I want to go snowboarding this year!!!!! Any suggestions?!

Cutest froggy you ever did see.

This baby seriously loves tv.. just lounging away trying to make us let him watch tv.

We decided to get Owen his passport and we tried to take our own pictures before giving up and going to Costco. He was being such a goober!

Official passport pic!

Owen loves to match his dad and I don't think Brian minds too much either :)

I love the gummies!!!!!!!!! Can't get enough. I won't even be mad if he never gets teeth.

Learning to hold his toys! Crazy eyes!

BABY ROOTS SWEATER. I die. Thanks to Auntie Janeen!

Owen loves to hold his hands and everybody elses. How lucky am I to wake up to this face?!

Chillin like a villain.

Seriously is there anything better than a baby in church clothes.

Grandpa Dave got Owen some sweet BYU gear for his 4 month bday :) Thanks Dave!

Brian took this picture with the caption. "Hi my name is Owen and I workout. Just check out these abs. Eat your heart out ladies." Hahaha. I was dying.

The froggy pjs! Animal hats just get me!

How many rolls? Who even knows?

Oh and did I mention.. my baby is instafamous!
