3rd trimester: 38 weeks

Oh my goodness, I am at the end of my pregnancy! It's so weird to finally be so close! In the US, I guess 37 weeks is considered full term and Canada 38 weeks is full term, so he could come anytime! Thursday, I had my 37.5 week Dr. appointment and I am 3cm dilated and 80% effaced!! I was so shocked! It's happening! And holy cow, my life is about to change so drastically and I am so scared!

I've honestly really enjoyed the third trimester. I think it has been my favorite trimester so far. Maybe I have just gotten used to dealing with the symptoms, but I feel like it has been the easiest and I also have a serious bump now so that's fun!

Symptoms of the third trimester:
Baby movements: sometimes those rolls are actually painful now. he is strong!
Heartburn: almost every night after dinner. even cheerios gave me heartburn the other day. ha!
Waddling: by the end of the day I feel like my body is two separate halves.
Insomnia: i can carry on a full conversation in the middle of the night and am completely awake every 1-2 hours without even a reason.
Skin: this past month or two suddenly i have no zits! my skin just weirdly cleared up. please never go away! this is an amazing pregnancy side effect!
Hair: I have always had oily hair, and can't go longer than maybe 2 days without washing. Weirdly these past few weeks I have hardly any oil.. I mean today is day 4 and nothing.. NOT normal for me!!! but a wonderful side effect that I would love to stay.
Weight gain: this has really slowed down in my third trimester, when I thought I would major puff and bloat! 22-26 pounds total.
Bending over: Brian did up my shoes for me the other day after watching my try for at least a full 2 minutes. Goodbye painted toenails!
Dreams: I have had a few labour and delivery dreams and each time labour is SO easy! haha. I'm up walking around within minutes and my clothes all fit me again. I can only dream!

I think pregnancy has been tougher in some ways than I thought, but at the same time so much easier than I ever thought. In general, I would say I am totally lucky and have had it so good. I'm still ready to be done, and I especially think this in the middle of the night when I can hardly roll over or get out of bed anymore. But really I just can't wait to meet this little boy! I will definitely miss some things about being pregnant though!

Miss about being pregnant:
-I love that everyone comments on my belly, and asks when I am due and what I am having. It's like have perfect small talk conversation all the time!
-I'll miss Brian feeling the baby move in my stomach. Sometimes we just lay there in awe and watch my stomach move. Some nights Brian thinks it's awesome, and sometimes if he feels too much of a body part, he is totally weirded out. Is it an alien or baby?!
-I'll miss the baby being with me constantly and feeling him move.
-I'll miss how I get to be with the baby all the time and take care of his every need, and yet hardly have to do anything! And no crying!

Yes, those purple scrubs are proof I am still working. It is definitely getting harder to do those 12 hour shifts and I feel very ready to be done. I work next week, and then if I am still pregnant, I am hoping to work one day in June so I can keep insurance until the end of June. If I deliver in May, then my insurance terms end of May, and I will have to go back for 2 weeks after my maternity leave. I really don't want to do this since Brian and I will have moved to Salt Lake and then Brian will have to take off more time or we will have to figure out some kind of baby sitter for 2 weeks. So hopefully this little baby stays in until June!

We installed our car seat in our car,  our stroller finally arrived, we bought a box of diapers, and my mom sent me a huge box of baby onesies so I guess that means we are ready... haha ya right! I am so nervous! Honestly, I don't feel even close to ready. Everything is just sitting in our spare room in the corner.  Ah! Wish me luck!

Baby VB predictions

My baby predictions:

  • I predict that our baby will be born June 6th at 6:00am.
  • I think the baby will be 6.5ish pounds and have dark brown hair and dark brown eyes (this should be a given ha.)  But then I think this babes will get seriously chunky in the next few months.
  • I think baby boy will be long and skinny and have lots of hair.
  • I really just picture him looking like Brian. I hope!

Brian's predictions:
  •  He thinks the baby will be born June 10th at 2:00am
  •  Baby will be 7.0 pounds exactly.
  •  He also thinks the baby will have lots of hair and that he will be ugly.  (He is sure our features are so opposite that the baby will get his funny nose, and my huge eyes, and my chipmunk cheeks.)

It's so crazy! I feel like I know exactly what our baby will look like because Brian and I look kinda similar, but at the same time I have no idea! We will soon see!

Orlando vacation with the Dittmann's

My family had been planning a vacation to Florida for almost a year. And my whole family was 100% planning on going which never really happens. We hadn't all been together on a vacation for who knows how many years... 7 maybe 10 years!  Brian and I just couldn't commit because I knew I wanted to get pregnant, plus he was graduating, and we just weren't sure where we would be.

When I found out I was going to be 33-34 weeks pregnant I thought for sure we couldn't go. I thought I would be way too uncomfortable to travel. Then about 3 weeks before the trip, I realized I felt pretty good and could totally do it. Sadly, Brian had just started a brand new job and didn't want to ask for time off so soon after starting, and then again like a month later when I had the baby.  :( I hate going places without him, but I couldn't turn down a trip to Disney land and Harry Potter world with my whole family! So I went just April 21-April 25th. And I'm so glad I did!

First day was beach day. We drove to Cocoa beach. Florida has the most beautiful white sandy beaches and the ocean isn't even very cold! I approve.

the newlyweds.. love them!

The next day was Epcot at Disneyworld. I seriously love it there! Disneyworld is so accommodating to pregnant people and I could ride a lot of the rides. California Soarin' was my favorite ride and then visited all the different countries! Mexico, USA, Canada, France, England, Germany, Norway, Italy.. these are the ones I'm currently remembering.

This is my cute mom and I eating amazing frozen watermelon slushies somewhere in Epcot. We also got gelato, macarons, and amazing caramels from the Welch shop in Germany.

The next day was beach day again. This time we drove to the west side of Florida and went to the Siesta Keys. This beach was rated #1 in 2011 in all of America or something and I could probably agree. This sand was to die for and I swear the ocean was actually warm.

Here is a picture of all my sibs and my mom. We didn't even plan to coordinate our beach outfits! Then Chad entertained us by making impressive puppy sand sculptures of Gracie and Maggie their dogs.

My sister Sheriann and her husband Chad go to Florida like twice a year and they are total pros! They showed us the best beaches and the best restaurants. That night Sher and Chad had made us reservations at 'Ohana which was such a yummy restaurant at the Polynesian resort at Disneyworld. They pretty much bring unlimited steak, chicken, fish, and pork to your table and yummy potatoes, and yummy vegetables. It was so good. The restaurant was pretty dark, so our family picture didn't really turn out, but this is all of us.. minus Brian :(

OK to the best part of the trip! Harry Potter World! I had been wanting to go since it was announced sometime in like 2009. Both of my sisters had been before and I was totally jealous!

It was seriously so magical! I really felt like I was at Hogwarts! Seriously the castle looked so real. I couldn't do any of the rides since I was too pregnant.. but it was still totally worth it! We did the walking tour inside the castle. We saw Dumbledore's office, the fat lady who guards Griffindor and all the portraits in the castle talked. So magical. We ate at the Three Broomsticks and I ordered Butterbeer! Oh my gosh.... so so so sooo good! I didn't even think they could make it really taste that yummy but it was like butterscotch, cream soda, and marshmellow topping. So amazing. We got pumpkin juice from Zonkos, and they had Ollivander's wand shop. I saw a maurader's map, and it lit up when the worker said "I solemnly swear I am up to no good" and the footprints disappeared when she said "mischief managed." Harry Potter world was by far the highlight of my trip! I am going to have to read all the books again. Can you tell I am a fan?

Part of Universal Studios also had Seussical land. I was in the play in highschool so I loved it too! And it actually had a carousel that I could ride. Pretty much the only ride in the entire park. ha.

Sorry for the picture overload, but I never have pictures with my family! Not everyone wanted to go to Universal with me, since they had been before, but Janeen was so sweet and even left Cody to come spend the day with me. I miss my family so much and hate living so far away from them.

Baby Shower!!

On April 19th, my besties Cassie and Kimber threw me the cutest baby shower! I had been looking forward to this since I found out I was pregnant! They went all out and I was beyond spoiled at this perfect party.

Check out this cutest invite ever! Cassie has some serious Photoshop skills.

The beautiful spread of food. Kimber even hauled those glasses all the way from Canada for my shower. Talk about true bff and committing to a baby shower!

We mingled, ate delicious food, and talked about all things baby. At one point there were 4 babies in the room and some were fussing and crying and I got a little overwhelmed.. like what am I doing! All of this baby is stuff is for me, and I am going to be a mom soon and have to know how to calm and care for a baby. Luckily, gift time was next and all the cute gifts just made me feel better, because who doesn't get cheered up by miniature baby clothes!

Me opening gifts. Thank you everyone for the wonderful and thoughtful presents!

I sadly didn't get a picture of our first game. Diapers were passed around with melted chocolate bars in them to look like baby poop. We had to guess the chocolate bar by smelling or eating the choc from the diaper! I actually tied for first place! Guess I know my chocolate.. even disguised in diapers. :)

The next game, Cassie had morphed my face with different celebrities and Brian to see what our babies would like. Then we had to match the baby with the baby daddy. I seriously love this game, and my favorite is me and Harry Potter.. can you guess which is which?

I had such a good time, and it was so good to see everyone. Thank you Cassie and Kimber for throwing me the shower, and thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with me!
